I’m sure most of us have that one book that we remember from our childhood. The book that we could read over and over. The book that sometimes we as adults find ourselves gifting to children in our lives. For me, that book is The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. It’s a lesson on finding happiness through sharing what you have with others.
Reading is one of the ways we get to learn new things, explore faraway lands without leaving the comfort of our home, and envelop ourselves into some wonderful stories. One of the things we love most about the general Midtown area is the multitude of Little Free Libraries sprinkled throughout. If you’re not familiar, the concept is very straightforward: leave a book, take a book. Neighbors and strangers can stop by at any time to drop off some books they no longer need or pick up a new read.
In fact, we have one right outside our office. It’s so fun to watch neighbors, school children, and even people from out of town stop by and peruse the inventory. You just never know what you’re going to find!
Do you have a Little Free Library on your block? We’d love to know about it! Sometimes we receive large donations of books (more than our little library can handle) and so we pass them along to the other libraries in the Neighborhood.
Thanks for being a community that cares about reading!
