There are a ton of things to do once your close on your new home and we are going to focus on the 3 most important things. These are high priority and you should aim to get them done as soon as possible because it is in your best interest for your safety. So let’s dive right in!
#1 Change Your Locks!
This is something you might not think of, especially if there is nothing wrong with your locks. However, it is important to change your locks because you do not know who has a spare key to the house from the previous owners. You do not know how many spare keys are floating around and it is in your best interest to change the locks. We highly recommend the Kwikset Locks. These are fantastic locks where you can program codes to use and program all the locks to use the same key, 1 key, 1 house.
#2 Change Smoke Detector and CO2 DetectorBatteries
This is also very important. Although someone might have changed out the batteries recently it is a good idea to go ahead and replace them just to be sure. Fire alarms and CO2 detectors are so important and you want to make sure to have new batteries in there.
#3 Change AC Filters
AC filters are something you should replace regularly. You should replace the filter after you move in because you do not know the last time it was replaced. Replacing filters helps the wear and tear on you air conditioner so it is something you want to do after moving in and continue to do every few months. We suggest changing your air filters every 3 months, and if you have furry friends every 2!
