Savannah is the South’s playground and there is plenty of adventure and things to do in Savannah with kids of any age. Your children can dine with our swashbuckling pirates and listen to their tales of old ghost stories at The Pirates’ House, relive the cannon blasts and other artillery of the Civil War at old Fort Jackson and step back in time as you ride on a historic steam train through the city’s oldest railroads at the Georgia State Railroad Museum. From kid-friendly restaurants to museums, tours, parks, and more, you’ll find a wealth of things to do in Savannah for kids. Plus, don’t forget our kid-friendly hotels for families. Rainy Day Activities:

• Star Castle is the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon. This place is loaded with activity from a full size skating rink, an arcade, laser tag and even a snack bar. This has been a family favorite in Savannah for over 20 years. They host many birthday parties and have a two-story area for them!
• If you are in the Pooler area and want to bowl and play laser tag, then Frames n’ Games is the place for you! Next door is SK8 City, and features a great skating rink!
• Get Air is an Indoor trampoline park featuring foam pits, dunk court, dodge ball and more all on trampolines. The perfect place for your birthday or just an afternoon out!
• IMAX and Royal Cinemas are located in Pooler and is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon! They have an awesome dinner theater that you can enjoy for select movies.
• Starlight Pottery is a pottery painting studio located in Midtown. This is a great activity for kids of all ages and walk-ins are always welcome here. All you do is pick your item and paint, then they will glaze and fire it for you. The item will be ready in 7-10 days and can be shipped to you.

• Oatland Island Wildlife Center is a 2 mile nature trail that takes you through many animal exhibits, including bobcats, owls, alligators, etc. This is a unit of the Savannah-Chatham County School System, which allows students to learn through an hands-on experience. They hold many events throughout the year that you won’t want to miss.
• Forsyth Park has a ton of green area to run around and also hosts two playgrounds. We can’t think of a better place to hang out then the famous Forsyth Fountain. Walk around, play on the playground, bring a blanket and picnic lunch to lay out and have lunch here.
• Surf Lagoon is a recently built water park located in Pooler, right off of 95. The park is still in the early stages of development, but is home to 4 slides, a lazy river, a wave pool and a children’s area. Be sure to bring your own towels here, but they do have plenty of options to buy your drinks and snacks.
• Tybee Island Marine Center is the perfect place to learn more about the ocean-life near Savannah. At certain times throughout the day, they have guided beach walks. Even if you don’t want to plan something, feel free to stop by and meet all of their ocean friends!
• While on Tybee Island, be sure to check out Sweet Dreams for an ice cream on the pier… Yum!

• Savannah Children’s Museum is fun for the whole family! The museum is all outside, so plan accordingly. This museum has over a dozen exhibits that allow children to explore and use their imagination. The kids are sure to love the maze, reading nook and sensory garden.
• The Georgia State Railroad Museum is the oldest and largest existing nineteenth-century railroad operations complex in the nation and is currently owned by the City of Savannah. There are five buildings that are permanent homes for the exhibits, including the roundhouse with its operating turntable. While here you can see steam and diesel locomotives, rail cars, steam-powered machinery, model railroads, a 126-foot brick smokestack with privies around its base.
• The Jepson Center is always the perfect way to spend a day. The Jepson focuses on the art of today, which ties the other Telfair museums all together. It is home to the Bird Girl statue, made famous from the over of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Their exhibits change frequently, so there is always something new to view.
